The First Week of Session

(This post originally appeared as an online edition of our newsletter on January 12th, 2018.)

Dear Neighbors,

The 2018 Legislative Session has begun!

This year, I have filed legislation focused on equity and transparency in government, ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment, protecting women's right to health care, and sensible gun safety. I am one of 17 legislators who publicly committed to "America's Goals" which are to create better jobs, better health care, and more opportunity in Virginia. More information on my bills is available on the LIS website, here. Since committees have just been formed, no bills have been scheduled for debate at this time.

On Wednesday, January 10th, the Virginia House of Delegates convened, and members were sworn-in. We elected the Honorable Delegate Kirkland Cox as our Speaker for the Biennium.

I am honored to have been re-appointed to serve on theCommerce and Labor Committee, Finance Committee, and the Militia, Police, and Public Safety Committee.
